Kia ora, I’m Katie Hoek, a Child and Family Psychologist based in Ōtautahi / Christchurch, Aotearoa NZ. I have a passion for helping children, young people, and parents navigate big emotions, neurodivergence, trauma, and family challenges in a safe and supportive way.

With 12 years of experience, I have worked across schools, NGOs, mental health services (CAF), and care and protection settings. My approach is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming, ensuring that each child and family I work with feels heard, understood, and supported.

My Approach

  • Child & Family-Centered – Every child is unique, and I tailor therapy to their needs, whether it's support for anxiety, emotional regulation, or school stress.

  • Neurodiversity-Affirming – I offer autism and ADHD assessments as well as incorporate neurodiversity-affirming practice into my therapy sessions by using a sensory, interoception, and interests-based approach with each individual.

  • Trauma-Informed & Culturally Responsive – I am committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, providing inclusive and culturally safe services for all whānau.

I work with children, teens, parents, caregivers, and professionals who need support with:
